Summer Cool”
Why we hold this summer camp?
“What am I going to do with my kids who watch TV and play
computer games from morning to night?” This problem haunts almost every parent
during the summer vacation. Now, Mandarin Family offers you an option! Come and
join our summer program, “Chinese Your Summer Cool.” We have many exciting Chinese activities
planned. Your children will gain an appreciation for the 5,000 years of Chinese
culture. They will have the opportunity to learn Chinese Tai Chi! We feel
summer camp at Mandarin Family will make your child’s summer vacation exciting
and a worthwhile learning experience.

The number of
the expected students: 3~ 4 for each class
Expected
students’ age: 4~14 (Students proficiency in Chinese will be
evaluated before being assigning to a class)

ancient towns, such as Zhouzhuang, Wuzhen, etc
(Parents who
want to enjoy the fun of traveling with their children are welcomed.)
Notice:
1. A student's proficiency in Chinese will be evaluated
before being assigned to a class.
2. Parents
and children may preview a class before making their class selection.
3. A child
may join a class at any time. If a student misses a class, they will have the
opportunity to make it up.
4. There
will be an additional fee for materials and field trips. Students may bring
their own supplies, writing brush, ink, paper, scissors and colorful paints or
they can purchase supplies from the school.
5. We are planning
3 field trips to historical Chinese sites, weather permitting.
6. The school will not provide lunch. Students
should bring their lunch, snacks and drinks. We will store items that require
refrigeration as well as warming up food.
7. If a
sufficient number of students aren’t enrolled in a class, the school reserves
the right to change the class schedule.
8. Tuition will not be
refunded, once a child begins class. A deposit of 300 RMB is required at the
time of enrollment. The balance is due the first day of class.
Introduction to course:
Chinese: Basic Chinese teaching, simple words and dialogue. The content will
help increase a student's interest in studying Chinese
Chinese Painting: An introduction to the traditional art, with a
closing exhibition of your children’s Chinese paintings. Genre including: genre-----figure,
landscape and flower-bird.
Style-----impressionistic, elaborate, lineation
Materials needed: brushes, ink ink-slab, rice paper, palette,
glass, Chinese paints, Album of Chinese painting.
Free Talk: A lesson in which we encourage the
students to express the Chinese they have learnt. The students will be encouraged
to speak Chinese as much as possible.
Story Time:
Tai Chi: We have arranged for a Tai Chi master to instruct the students.
Handiwork: Have you ever realized how handy you are? Now, you can make flowers, clothes, houses or just use your imagination. We encourged DIY (do it yourself).
Materials needed: paper for handiwork (including some special tools), scissors and glue.
Happy Character: Learning Chinese characters in a magical way, the appreciation and writing of Oracle Bone script and Bronze script
Materials needed: brush, ink, ink-slab, rice paper
Culture Mosaic: An informative cultural course that will teach the students how to use the ancient Chinese computational tool, the abacus. They will also be instructed in kite making. The students will learn Chinese history, geography, arithmetic and Chinese culture.
